This flagship new build regeneration project is being delivered by JV between A2Dominion Group and London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. The refurbishment of the 1930s Grade II listed Town Hall will be central to the creation of a new civic plaza, with new-build development including three residential blocks, BCO specification offices, ground floor restaurant, basement level cinema.
Our appointment is for BSRIA Stage 3 design of the new-build and site-wide infrastructure, followed by Owner’s Engineer role from Stage 4 and 5. This includes design of an open loop aquifer ground source heat pump scheme and site-wide distribution.
We worked collaboratively to find effective solutions to key challenges, including delivery of a SAP10 compliant energy system to meet new GLA regulations within challenging timescale. We worked closely with the Client team to finding an effective solution and develop the design. HYSOPT software was used to optimise the energy centre design including CHP / heat pump options appraisal of carbon intensity, CAPEX and OPEX, reducing Carbon and Gas emissions.
Our design ensures effective integration of the GSHP with the boilers, (with high differentials in their working temperatures) and energy recovery serving the central cooling system.
The scheme is projected to achieved over 35% CO2 reduction with a design that will deliver affordable warmth to residents, minimal Air Quality impact and drive an efficient and environmentally friendly system.
This project recently won the New London Architecture People’s Choice Award.
